Michael Nees, the newly-appointed head coach of the Zimbabwe national football team, is anticipated to arrive in Zimbabwe later this week.
Despite his appointment being officially confirmed by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) earlier this month, Nees has yet to commence his duties.
The German coach, who signed a two-year contract extending through June 2026, was initially scheduled to arrive in Zimbabwe last week.
However, his arrival was postponed due to delays with immigration paperwork. Fortunately, the necessary permits have now been issued, and Nees is now expected to land in Zimbabwe on Wednesday, as reported by New Zimbabwe.
Nees’s inaugural challenge with the Warriors will come on September 6th, when Zimbabwe faces Kenya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers. The match will mark the beginning of his tenure and a critical step in Zimbabwe’s campaign for the continental tournament.
Stay tuned for updates as Michael Nees prepares to lead the Warriors in their upcoming fixtures.
