Palestinian Ambassador Thanks President Mnangagwa for UNGA Support

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Dr. Tamer Almassri, has expressed his profound gratitude on behalf of the Palestinian people for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s steadfast support during his recent address to the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The speech, delivered by Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Honourable Frederick Shava, underscored Zimbabwe’s unwavering solidarity with Palestine in its pursuit of justice, the recognition of statehood, and the call for an end to Israeli occupation and alleged genocide.

Dr. Almassri conveyed his appreciation, stating that President Mnangagwa’s commitment to standing alongside Palestine in its struggle resonates deeply with the Palestinian people’s aspirations for peace and dignity. “His emphasis on human rights and self-determination is a reflection of our shared vision for a just world,” said the ambassador.

President Mnangagwa’s remarks at the UNGA brought international attention to the Palestinian plight and reinforced the need for global solidarity to address longstanding injustices. His speech highlighted the importance of collective action in upholding justice and equality, calling for an end to what he termed as “the last occupation of the 21st century.”

The ambassador expressed hope that this show of solidarity would inspire other nations to advocate for Palestinian rights in international forums. He commended President Mnangagwa for his courage, noting that Zimbabwe’s support serves as a beacon of hope for Palestinians, especially at a time when the conflict is escalating, with Israeli actions extending to the West Bank and Lebanon, raising concerns of a broader regional conflict.

The gesture is expected to strengthen the bond between Zimbabwe and Palestine and bolster efforts to foster international recognition and support for the Palestinian cause.
