Police in Mahusekwa have arrested Colleen Munemo (30) and Shepherd Mugava (29) in connection with the tragic death of their six-month-old child, Earth Mugava.
The incident occurred on September 19, 2024, at Landos Business Centre in Chihota, Marondera, where authorities allege that the child was thrown to the ground during a domestic altercation.
According to a statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the couple initially reported that the infant had fallen from their bed. However, upon investigation, police uncovered evidence suggesting a more sinister scenario.
The police reported, “The couple went on to make a false report to the Police alleging that the child fell from the bed. Investigations revealed that the child died after being thrown on the ground during a fight.”
The arrest has shocked the local community, which is grappling with the implications of such a tragic event. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather more evidence.

In a separate incident, police in Rushinga are also investigating a murder that took place on September 22, 2024, at Manyozo Village, Rusambo. The victim, Grace Mureza (28), was discovered dead with her head severed. Authorities are actively searching for her husband, David Meja, as a person of interest in the case.
These incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding domestic violence and safety in the community. The police urge anyone with information related to either case to come forward as investigations continue.
