Prophet Walter Magaya has threatened to sue the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) for allegedly spreading false information regarding the recently built Heart Stadium through his attorneys, Rubaya and Chatambudza.
This occurs after ZIFA, acting through Chairman of the Normalization Committee (NC), Lincoln Mutasa, released a statement on Monday that “clarified” the reasons why the stadium is unable to host continental club championships.
ZIFA claims that the Heart Stadium did not comply with the standards set forth by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
ZIFA recommended that a preliminary inspection be conducted because there are currently several important areas in which the Heart Stadium does not meet CAF requirements.
The Zimbabwe Football Association would want to clarify some recent false information regarding Heart Stadium’s status and its suitability to host the preliminary matches of Dynamos FC and Ngezi Platinum Stars in their respective CAF competitions.

In order to attempt and help the clubs play their home games in Zimbabwe, ZIFA’s statement said, “The Association would like to clarify that all necessary procedures were meticulously followed by the Club Licencing Department, in accordance with CAF directives.”
“However, Heart Stadium was unable to produce a Stadium Safety and Security Certificate as needed by the process during preliminary inspections. As such, the establishment was ineligible for penalty.
The stadium also lacks an area allocated for vulnerable individuals, a media tribune, and ablution facilities that adhere to regulations.
“We hope that this statement makes everything clear and corrects any misinformation that has been going around.”
In a letter drafted by his attorneys in response to ZIFA’s declaration, the owner of Yadah FC ordered that the nation’s football body “retract the defamatory statement.”
In addition, Magaya threatened to “issue summons and claim damages for defamation in the tune of US$100,000,00 without any further notice to you” if ZIFA did not withdraw its statement.
