There are increasing demands for the owner of Zanzou, a popular nightclub in Pretoria, to be arrested following disturbing reports of brutal treatment by security staff at his venue.
On Monday, videos appeared on social media, purportedly depicting the nightclub’s bouncers subjecting a group of young men to physical and s*xual abuse. The footage shows the victims being violently beaten, while other clips depict them being coerced into engaging in inappropriate acts.
In response to the incident, the nightclub issued a statement confirming that it has hired a fully licensed security company to oversee the safety of its premises.

The management has also instructed all employees to fully cooperate with law enforcement as investigations continue, promising to hold the responsible bouncers accountable.
However, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have criticised the nightclub’s response and demanded additional prosecution for its owner, Stephane Cohen. According to Cohen’s social media profile, he owns 12 popular restaurants and nightclubs in Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Police are investigating the incident and have announced plans to conduct a raid on Zanzou nightclub to further assess the situation.
