A 24-year-old peasant farmer, identified as Abedinico Nzowa, tragically took his own life by hanging himself from a mango tree near his home in Kalulushi.
The incident followed a violent altercation with his girlfriend, Clara Tembo, during which she lost consciousness, leading Nzowa to fear she had died.
Nzowa’s sister reported the situation to the Kalulushi Police Station, explaining that the conflict began when Tembo rejected Nzowa’s s3xual advances, escalating into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, Nzowa struck Tembo, causing her to faint. Believing she was dead, Nzowa reportedly hanged himself.

Remarkably, Tembo later regained consciousness and found Nzowa’s body hanging from the tree. In distress, she alerted the Community Crime Prevention Unit, which then informed the police.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Nzowa’s lifeless body with no visible injuries apart from a protruding tongue. Additional evidence, including traces of sperm in his clothing, suggested the circumstances leading up to the incident.
The body was transported to Kalulushi General Hospital Mortuary for further investigation.
