The General soldiers on

By Munashe Rungano

Veteran Zim dancehall chanter Sniper Storm, born Donald Chirisa, seems to have put his woes behind him as he put up a spirited performance last weekend in Cape Town South, Africa.

At a show organised by popular Zim dancehall promoter in Cape Town Oga Sawara, Sniper brought the house down with his energy on stage as he churned hit after hit taking revellers down memory lane with his yesteryear chat topper Kubhinya among other tracks.

The General, as Sniper is also known, made headlines in December when a leaked audio of him pleading to be included on the line up of performers at a 2 Kings Entertainment gig went viral.

In the audio one VJ representing the show organisers offered Sniper a paltry $50 as a performance fee while the singer said he would not perform for anything less than $800.

The Love yeMusoja singer poured water on the matter and said his prime focus at the moment was promoting his latest album titled Shoot which was produced by Oskid.

“I have no beef with anybody as my mission is to sing and perform. The 2 Kings issue was has since been resolved and we buried the hatchet,” he said.

As if to affirm his statements, Sniper lit up Cape Town with tracks from his latest offering with Tsvigiri Muhuchi being the crowd’s favourite. He sent his fans into a frenzy when he sampled a yet to be recorded track titled Zimbabwe

The SA show turned out to be a double joy for Sniper as he took the opportunity to shoot a video of the song Tsvigiri Muhuchi in the port city.

“My gratitude goes to Oga for his sincere intentions in promoting Zim dancehall down here in Mzansi. He is a man of honor and strictly abides by the contractual agreement,” said Sniper.

The well attended show also saw Zimdancehall sensation Ninja Kabhidha give a good account of himself.
