SAA Pilot Strike Disrupts Holiday Travel Plans Starting December 5

A strike by pilots at South African Airways (SAA) has caused significant disruptions to holiday travel, affecting key domestic and regional routes starting on Thursday, December 5. With the busy December travel period underway, passengers are advised to take immediate action to adjust their plans and avoid further delays.

In an official statement, SAA issued a travel advisory in response to the strike, reassuring passengers that they will be re-accommodated on the next available flight operated by the airline.

“We encourage our partners to manage booking queues and promptly inform customers of any changes,” SAA stated.

While the strike’s duration remains uncertain, it is expected to impact all SAA flights on domestic and regional routes, including those between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Windhoek, and Mauritius. However, flights operated by SAA’s codeshare and Star Alliance partners will proceed as scheduled.
