The Postman Delivered a Life Changing Letter to Delta Corporation
Dr Mandere and six of his fellow students gathered together and wrote a letter which was possibly written in braille because all of them are either blind or partially blind and it was translated and printed.
They addressed it to Delta Corporation and took it to the post office where the postman delivered it to the Delta offices where it went straight to the hands of Patricia Murambinda the General Manager Corporate Affairs.
“It was funny and awkward to receive a letter from the post office in this day and age, we even laughed about it with my colleagues,” she said jokingly, “when I read it I was touched and acted hastily because of what was written by this group. I brought the matter to my fellow Rotarians and here we are today with these donations.”
Delta and The Rotary Club of Harare Dawn quickly organized for donations worth USD $10 000 which they delivered to this special group of adults who in their past could see clearly and later became blind due to different circumstances.
They are now students at Dorothy Duncan Braille Centre where they are learning braille, computers, mobility, gardening and other daily living skills that will help them get on with life including rehabilitation.
They each received a mobile device, headphones and a laptop, book binders for their library which were handed over by Patricia Murambinda and Jacqui Joseph to the director Mr Anderson Robertson.
