Zanu PF Cracks Down on Indiscipline, Expels 8 More Members

Following the removal of Blessed Geza, Zimbabwe’s ruling party, Zanu PF, has expelled eight additional members due to allegations of misconduct.

The announcement was made by Patrick Chinamasa, the party’s Secretary for Legal Affairs, following the 381st Ordinary Session of the Politburo held in Harare on Wednesday, March 5.

Among those expelled is Gifford Gomwe from Mashonaland West, who was accused of creating a WhatsApp group that allegedly undermined party unity.

Similarly, Kudakwashe Gopo from Masvingo Province faced expulsion for disrupting District Coordinating Committee (DCC) meetings and setting up a similar WhatsApp group.

Gutu East MP Benjamin Ganyiwa was also dismissed for attempting to unconstitutionally remove six district chairpersons, fostering factional divisions, and organising unauthorised meetings where the party leadership was criticised. His removal from Zanu PF means he will lose his parliamentary seat, prompting a by-election.

Godwin Gomwe, chairman of Harare’s Zanu DCC 2, was expelled for involvement in factionalism and misconduct. Another Harare provincial member, Edson Ringwa, faced removal over accusations of illegally distributing land in Chitungwiza, among other charges.

Victor Manungo was ousted for spreading misinformation and causing internal divisions, with the Politburo citing his disloyalty on social media as a key factor. Likewise, Spencer Mutero was expelled for managing a social media group that opposed the party’s principles.

Meanwhile, Chiredzi North MP Roy Bila was acquitted of all charges, while Calisto Bangu is set to appear before the National Disciplinary Committee for allegedly undermining the party’s authority.

In Harare, former Provincial Political Commissar Kudakwashe Damson received a three-year suspension for multiple violations. Additionally, former Women’s League provincial chairperson Ratidzo Mukarati, who was already suspended due to factionalism, was further demoted within the party ranks.
