The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) proudly hosted the Southern Africa Inter-Revenue Games (SAIRAG) from April 18 to 20, 2025, welcoming revenue agencies from across the region for three days of spirited competition and camaraderie.
The event saw standout performances from Zambia and Lesotho, who dominated the medal tally across multiple sporting disciplines.
The tournament brought together athletes from Malawi, Namibia, Eswatini, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and Botswana to compete in a wide array of sports, including football, netball, volleyball, pool, darts, chess, basketball, table tennis, tug of war, and athletics.
ZIMRA’s teams gave a solid account of themselves on home turf. In football, the Zimbabwean side triumphed over the Namibia Revenue Agency (NAMRA) with a convincing 3-1 victory. The ZIMRA netball team also impressed, edging out Lesotho 21-19 and securing a 31-20 win against NAMRA.
Elsewhere, Eswatini’s women’s darts team clinched a silver medal, and their men’s table tennis team secured third place. The Malawi Revenue Authority was praised for its enthusiastic participation in all events, exemplifying the unity and collaborative spirit that the SAIRAG games aim to foster.

This annual competition, which dates back to 2012, offers a platform for Southern Africa’s revenue bodies to promote fitness, strengthen regional ties, and celebrate shared values. It was last hosted by Zimbabwe in 2015.
Zambia walked away as the overall champions of the 2025 edition, with Lesotho finishing a close second. ZIMRA secured third place in the overall rankings.
Fans across the region were able to keep up with the action through live updates posted on ZIMRA’s official Facebook page. The host nation also extended warm hospitality to visiting athletes and officials, making the experience memorable both on and off the field.
