ZIMSEC Extends Registration Deadline for November 2025 Exams

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has announced a mop-up registration exercise scheduled from 31 March to 16 May 2025.

This initiative is aimed at candidates who missed the original registration deadline for the 2025 November exams.

The announcement follows a recent statement by Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Torerayi Moyo, who confirmed that the deadline for registering for the 2025 November Grade 7, O’ Level, and A’ Level exams would be extended. This extension comes after concerns were raised by lawmakers that the initial early deadline might hinder disadvantaged students from registering in time.

In a statement issued on 26 March 2025, ZIMSEC clarified that the mop-up exercise applies only to candidates for the Ordinary and Advanced Level exams scheduled for November 2025. There was no mention of Grade 7 candidates, who are advised to register for the November exams if they missed the June 2025 registration.

The statement from ZIMSEC further emphasised that this registration window will be open only for candidates who missed the initial deadline for the November exams and does not apply to those who missed the registration for the June exams.

Additionally, ZIMSEC reassured repeat candidates that their Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA) marks will remain valid for up to six exam cycles. Candidates can continue re-sitting exams while using their banked CALA marks for certification, as long as they fall within the following validity periods:

  • 2022 CALA marks are valid until June 2025.
  • 2023 CALA marks are valid until June 2026.
  • 2024 CALA marks are valid until June 2027.

However, 2021 CALA marks have expired and are no longer eligible for use.
