Nkosikhona Moyo, a 23-year-old from Esigodini, was arrested for raping a goat on Njuka Farm. This incident occurred on October 6, 2024, when Moyo entered the farm at night and assaulted the goat. The goat was found unconscious the next morning with signs of sexual assault.
Moyo’s actions were discovered after the goat’s owner and coworkers followed footprints leading to his home. He was subsequently arrested, charged with bestiality, and pleaded guilty.
The magistrate deemed his actions barbaric but considered his first-time offender status and family responsibilities. As the goat survived and no compensation was provided to its owner, Moyo received a fine of US$150 or two months in jail if unpaid .
