A Litmus Test For ZRP: The Ali Murder

A Litmus Test For ZRP: The Ali Murder

It has been revealed that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has been put to the test to see if they can effectively investigate and apprehend the perpetrators of Moreblessing Ali’s murder without fear of political interference.

Ali, a CCC activist, was butchered by suspected Zanu PF apparatchiks who dismembered her body before putting it in a disused well at Zanu PF affiliated Simbarashe Chisango’s property in Chitungwiza’s Manyame region on Saturday.

Tererai Obey Sithole, temporary chairperson of the CCC Youth Assembly, described her murder case as a massive responsibility for the ZRP, which must demonstrate its professionalism through unbiased investigations.

“By apprehending the specified suspects, the nation’s police forces will once again demonstrate professionalism and commitment to ending crime.”

According to Sithole, the ZRP’s image has already been tainted by arbitrary arrests of pro-democracy supporters of opposition parties.

“Instead, they have chosen to demonstrate hypocrisy by arresting the victims while allowing the offenders free. The police’s rush to apprehend pro-democracy activists in Chitungwiza before the murders is a sad display of duplicity on their part.

“All we ask is for justice to be done, and in this situation, we expect the killers to be apprehended, which I don’t believe is too much to ask,” Sithole added.

Job “Wiwa” Sikhala, vice chairman of the CCC and a Zengeza West legislator, and Godfrey Karakadzayi Sithole, a Chitungwiza North legislator, were arrested yesterday for encouraging violent situations in the Nyatsime region.

The main suspect in the murder case, Pius Jamba, a vigilante, remains at large, and the Ali family has pledged not to bury their loved one until all those responsible for her death have been captured.

Sithole claimed that the State’s blunders surrounding Ali’s assassination were to blame for the present confrontations in Chitungwiza.

“The heinous murder of Moreblessing reveals a great deal about the situation of people’s safety in our society.” While governments in other countries work valiantly to combat terrorism, the government in our own country is at the center of helping terrorist acts.”

“The state has abdicated its responsibilities since then, and in the face of their failures, they invariably revert to using methods of terror to quiet voices of opposition, and Moreblessing was one of them.”
