Beer Spill Leads to Deadly Confrontation in Shurugwi

Albert Gido, a 26-year-old Shurugwi resident from Village 10, Zviumwa, was charged with murder when he appeared before the Shurugwi Magistrates’ Court recently.

The charges are related to a homicidal attack that is purportedly the result of another bargoer spilling the accused’s alcohol.

The event happened on July 7, 2024, at a bottle shop in the Zviumwa Business Centre in the Shurugwi District of Midlands Province, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

After accusing the 35-year-old victim, Future Ngwenya, of spilling his beer, the accused, Gido, attacked him with his bare hands.

Other bargoers stepped in and stopped Gido from attacking Ngwenya any more. But it is said that at approximately 11 p.m., when the majority of the other patrons had left the establishment, Gido attacked Ngwenya once more, allegedly using a plastic chair and his bare hands, while his accomplice, Trymore Manhoro (30), who is still at large, restrained the victim.
