By Own Correspondent

Controversial Zanu PF aspiring Glen View North legislator Martin Mambo is being accused of name-dropping President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the jostle for parliamentary seats hots up.

According to various sources, the Zanu PF Harare Province secretary for economic affairs is claiming that he was endorsed by the President to contest the Glen View North.

“It’s shocking that despite the party  warning people not to abuse the name of the President and the First Family, we still have individuals like Mambo who have the audacity to tell members that his candidature is being supported by ED.

” He send screenshots of his  call history with a number saved ED in some WhatsApp group saying his interest to contest the seat had blessings from ‘vakuru’,”  said one source who declined to be named.

Another source said what makes his name-dropping antics worse is that he faces allegations of drug peddling.

“The President is on record saying no to drugs but here is someone who is known for supplying drugs in Glen View and Budiriro saying he is close to the President. This taints the President in bad light,”argued the source.

According to a Zanu PF Harare province executive member, the aspiring Glen View North candidate has also been abusing party funds for his personal benefit.

” Mambo is dipping into party coffers for his self-aggrandisement and very soon he will be investigated,” revealed the Zanu PF Harare executive member.
Efforts to get a comment from Mambo were fruitless.
