War veterans who demanded the resignation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa have stated that they will not abandon their intentions to overthrow him through large-scale demonstrations.
Blessed Geza led the group, but it dispersed after authorities listed Geza as seeking to incite public violence and undermine the president’s authority.
The group’s spokesperson, Knox Chivero, stated in a video posted Sunday night from an unidentified location that Mnangagwa had dispatched death squads to hunt them down with orders to kill.
Using a Shona expression that translates to “running is not arriving,” Chivero stated that the decision to end the nationwide shutdown will not be made hastily.
Let me reassure you that Cde Geza’s liberating signal will arrive very soon, he remarked.
As you can see, this is a massive undertaking because it is a collective endeavor rather than an individual one.
“Organization and adequate managerial skills are crucial for effectively managing the public. This implies that planning, execution, and aftermath management must be meticulous to achieve the finest outcomes at the lowest possible costs.

The video shows Chivero sitting by a window and speaking from a darkened room. He does not mention Geza’s current location or reveal his whereabouts.
He emphasized that the war veterans, who accused Mnangagwa of economic incompetence and wanting to construct a dynasty, did not desire any bloodshed.
“A good soldier, a good commander wins the war with minimal loss but the best commander is one who wins a war without firing a bullet. This is precisely the concept of managing large organisations and mass demonstrations whilst you’re in the guts of the beast which has deployed its dogs of war, hit squads and ferret teams particularly trained in Belarus to hit, not to arrest,” Chivero said.
He asserted that the hitmen who were dispatched to find them had also been covertly incorporated into regular police units, such as murder and law and order investigators.
“So you will appreciate what we are fighting against and planning against,” he continued. We are up against a ruthless foe who doesn’t care about people.
Ten distinct units or assassins pursued Cde Geza, shooting him at first sight without the possibility of arrest and claiming that “he resisted arrest, that’s why we shot him.”
Before recording tapes demanding Mnangagwa’s resignation last month, Geza, a Zanu PF central committee member, seems to have been faithful to the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association. This primary organization represents independent war combatants.
Geza’s organization claims a quiet majority are behind their request for Mnangagwa to resign.
There are now severe divides inside Zanu PF due to Mnangagwa followers’ attempt to abolish term limits, enabling him to remain in power until 2028, when his second and last term expires.
Supporters of Mnangagwa’s ambitious deputy Constantino Chiwenga oppose the move, which the opposition is spiritedly fighting.
Blessed Mhlanga, a journalist, was arrested by police last week on suspicion of inciting public violence after he allegedly posted videos of Geza on Alpha Media Holdings’ HStv. A court denied bail to Mhlanga.
