As a result of a brace from Alexander Isak and an assist, Newcastle tied their club record with nine victories in a row across all competitions with a win over Wolves.
The Swedish forward became the first player in Newcastle’s history to score in eight straight Premier League matches as his shot deflected off Rayan Ait-Nouri, giving the club the lead.
After halftime, Newcastle had the better scoring chances. The Wolves’ Jose Sa made two saves from Jacob Murphy, and Isak nearly scored but missed the near post.
After Jorgen Strand Larsen nearly scored for Wolves late in the first half, he missed the target. Nevertheless, eleven minutes into the second half, Newcastle’s Isak scored again, this time after receiving a wonderful ball from Bruno Guimaraes.

Despite coming on for Wolves after halftime, Matheus Cunha was unable to convert any of his two opportunities. One of his shots sailed wide, and the second was off target from outside the box.
The game-winning goal came 16 minutes from time when Anthony Gordon, set up by Isak, slipped a low shot past Sa to give Newcastle the victory.
After Gordon scored, Wolves appeared to have equalised with Santiago Bueno’s close-range bundling of the ball home, but Strand Larsen was denied by a vital save by Martin Dubravka in the waning moments of the match.
Thanks to this win, Newcastle returns to the top four for the first time since September, while Wolves fall into the relegation zone due to a disparity in goals scored.
