After his wife presented an affidavit in deposition on Thursday, DJ Fantan will no longer be charged with domestic violence.
Gamuhirai Nemukuyu, Fantan’s wife, swore under oath in an affidavit that she had given up on the case.
As a result, before DJ Fantan entered a plea, the State dropped its accusations against him.
In front of Mbare Magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje, Nemukuyu withdrew the charge. She said under oath that she knew what she was doing and that it was her own free will.
Nemukuyu’s resignation was accepted by Magistrate Gakanje, who therefore dropped the accusations against DJ Fantan.
Gamuchirai Nemukuyu charged DJ Fantan with malicious damage to property as specified by the Domestic Violence Act in her original complaint.
After an argument sometime in May, DJ Fantan’s wife claimed that the Chillspot producer had broken dinner dishes and cups worth $250. Additionally, she had disclosed to the police that DJ Fantan had a pattern of mistreating her.
Prior to the miscommunication in May, Nemukuyu claimed to have launched a restaurant at Stodart in Mbare. She claimed that her husband Fantan, who wanted her to be a housewife, was outraged by this.
Additionally, DJ Fantan was charged with soaking their children’s and bedding linens in a bathtub.
DJ Fantan denied hitting his wife when the news of their domestic dispute was initially made public.
However, DJ Fantan acknowledged shattering his wife’s plates, jugs, wine glasses, and teapots.
This is not the first time that Fantan has run afoul of the law. In January of last year, Simbarashe “Dhama” Chanachimwe and DJ Fantan, Levelz, real name Tafadzwa Kadzimwe, were found guilty of breaking the law by “convening a public meeting during a national lockdown.”
