Khama Billiat, a forward for Yadah and the Zimbabwe national team, has finally revealed the reasons for his exit from Kaizer Chiefs last year.
Billiat opted not to renew his contract with the Chiefs when it expired in June 2023, even though the club expressed interest in keeping him. After spending seven months without a team, he returned to Zimbabwe to join Yadah, a side in the Castle Lager Premiership.
In an interview on the MhlengiSports YouTube Channel, Billiat discussed his decision to leave Kaizer Chiefs. He explained, “Negotiations can go in different directions, and I felt it was time to return home. They wanted me to stay, but I wasn’t mentally prepared for another season.

The injuries and pressure I faced were frustrating. I wanted to play and contribute more, but the negotiations didn’t go well. I was willing to accept a salary reduction, and I appreciated the offer, but the pressure became overwhelming.
I was uncertain if I would remain injury-free if I stayed for another season, and the social media scrutiny added to my struggles. As a single individual, it became too much to handle, and it affected my well-being, even at home.
I apologize for how things unfolded during the negotiations and the issues surrounding my salary. It was simply too much for me.”
Since returning to Zimbabwe, Billiat has shown signs of his former self, becoming one of the top scorers in the local league with 12 goals and earning a recall to the national team.
