Ignatius Chindudzi, a 26-year-old Harare resident, has been taken to court for allegedly raping a vendor who visited his office to collect a debt.
The case was heard by Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa.
According to reports, the incident occurred in October when the vendor went to Chindudzi’s office in the Central Business District to collect her payment.
Upon arrival, she found Chindudzi alone, and when she asked for her money, he questioned her about declining his love proposal.
The situation took a disturbing turn when Chindudzi allegedly locked the door, spread a blanket on the floor, and instructed the woman to lie down, which she refused.

The victim waited for almost an hour before leaving the building and returning home. A few days later, she discovered she had contracted a sexually transmitted infection.
Distraught, she confided in her cousin, who confronted Chindudzi about the incident, leading to a police report and Chindudzi’s subsequent arrest.
