Zimbabwe’s healthcare landscape is undergoing a digital transformation, thanks to NetOne and Zim Smart Village’s latest initiative—the launch of another OneHealth Telemedicine Virtual Hospital in Chirumhanzu.

This marks a significant milestone in the expansion of a nationwide network, with over 22 telemedicine booths now operational.

Spearheaded by First Lady Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, this initiative aims to bridge the healthcare gap, particularly in underserved and remote areas.

Speaking at the launch, NetOne’s Acting Group CEO, Mr. Learnmore Musunda, emphasized the transformative impact of virtual hospitals, stating:

“This groundbreaking project ensures that even the most remote communities can access quality medical care without the burden of long-distance travel.”

Dr. Jokwiro, CEO of Zim Smart Village, echoed these sentiments, noting that virtual hospitals represent a major shift in healthcare service delivery:

“These facilities enable patients to consult with medical professionals remotely, ensuring timely medical advice and care, particularly in rural areas with limited access to specialized services.”

Guest of honor, Honorable Minister Barbra Rodzi, urged Chirumhanzu residents to make full use of the facility.

She highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, which seeks to establish an upper-middle-income economy through digital innovation.

“This initiative directly supports Vision 2030 and contributes to global development goals such as SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), ensuring marginalized communities gain access to essential healthcare services,” said Minister Rodzi.

The successful deployment of over 22 telemedicine booths demonstrates Zimbabwe’s commitment to harnessing technology for social progress. This collaboration between NetOne and Zim Smart Village is a shining example of how public-private partnerships can revolutionize healthcare access, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward a healthier nation.
