ESPN puts focus on the group stage of the CONCACAF Leagues Cup (CLC) this week, starting on the morning of Saturday, July 27, with Atlanta United vs. DC United, followed by Los Angeles FC hosting Tijuana (02:00 and 05:00 LIVE on ESPN).
LAFC are looking forward to the arrival of French striker Olivier Giroud, according to player development coach and former Italy international Giorgio Chiellini.
“He can score 20 goals a year, and they’re happy; he’s not the type to score 50; he also needs the team. Then in Los Angeles, he could also be an actor. For me, however, he will make the difference, especially with his character,” said Chiellini.
“Because Giroud wants to win, he is a driving force, he will make his teammates grow as he did with [Rafael] Leao, [Christian] Pulisic and others [at AC Milan]. Here mentality matters a lot. If you arrive with the presumption of being the best, you do badly. If you come to learn, you end up performing well. The person makes the difference.
The morning of Sunday 28 July sees Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami play away to Puebla, followed by Guadalajara hosting the San Jose Earthquakes (02:00 and 04:00 LIVE on ESPN), while Monday 29 July brings a clash between Leon and Portland Timbers (04:30 LIVE on ESPN).
The morning of Wednesday, 31 July, brings more CLC action, with the New York Red Bulls visiting Pachuca, before LAFC welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps to the ‘City of Angels’ (02:00 and 04:30 LIVE on ESPN), while Thursday, 1 August, brings a clash between Nashville SC and Mazatlan (03:00 LIVE on ESPN).

The first live action on ESPN arrives on the early morning of Friday, July 26, with the Mets taking on the Braves in Major League Baseball (MLB) action (01:10 LIVE on ESPN 2), followed by a National Rugby League (NRL) battle between the Warriors and the Wests Tigers (10:00 LIVE on ESPN 2).
Saturday 27 July offers up more NRL thrills and spills in the morning, with the Cowboys hosting the Sharks (09:30 LIVE on ESPN 2), while the late evening presents a MLB regular season game between the Orioles and the Padres (22:05 LIVE on ESPN 2).
More NRL features on the morning of Sunday, 28 July, with the Titans visiting the Dolphins (08:05 LIVE on ESPN 2), while the evening sees the Phillies host the Guardians for a MLB game in Philadelphia (19:35 LIVE on ESPN 2).
Phillies manager Rob Thomson recently praised third baseman Alex Bohm for the major progress he has made in his career, which included selection into the recent All Star Game.
“It means a lot. ‘Cause I’ve seen where he started, and to see him now, it’s a completely different guy, a completely different player, a completely different person,” said Thomson. “I’ve been a developmental guy all my life. I still think I’m a developmental guy. And when you see those things happen, it really perks you up.”
More MLB follows in the midweek, with the evening of Wednesday 31 July pitting the Mets against the Twins (19:10 LIVE on ESPN 2), before the morning of Thursday 1 August sees the Athletics take on the Giants in San Francisco (03:45 LIVE on ESPN 2).
