SuperSport is bringing viewers the 23rd edition of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to be held in Scotland from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 October 2024. It is the only professional golf tournament to be played annually over the historic Old Course at St Andrews, alongside the Championship Course at Carnoustie and the’modern classic’, Kingsbarns.
A unique aspect of this event is that it incorporates two separate competitions: an individual professional tournament for the world’s leading golfers and the team championship in which the professionals are paired with amateur golfers, which creates a unique atmosphere.
Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick will return to defend his Alfred Dunhill Links title, bidding to become only the second golfer in history, along with Tyrrell Hatton, to win back-to-back championships.

Fitzpatrick, who won last year by three shots, said: “It doesn’t get much better than winning at St Andrews. To play in a tournament there and be in contention is something that you always remember. To say I’ve won a tournament there is even more special.”
In addition to winning the Individual Professional Tournament in 2023, he also triumphed in the Team Championship alongside his mother.
“Last year in the Dunhill, I felt very relaxed and focused on playing well with my mom, not putting pressure on myself, and trying not to get stressed out or get frustrated,” he explained.
“The Ryder Cup was the week before. That’s obviously a very stressful week. I’d not really had a great season, so having the feeling of being relaxed and not trying too hard helped to bring out the best in my game.”
One of the players looking to dethrone Fitzpatrick is Brooks Koepka, who has ambitions of becoming the first American to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
“I’ve been fortunate to play in several Dunhill Links, as well as two Open Championships at St Andrews over the years, and these trips are always highlights of my year,” said the five-time Major title winner.
“I love Links Golf, and St Andrews is my favorite course in the world. I could play there every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.”

![Jorge Martin will continue his quest to become MotoGP World Champion in 2024 when the 16th round of the season, the Grand Prix of Japan, takes place on Sunday morning, October 6, at the Mo-bility Resort Motegi. Martin of Prima Pramac won his first Grand Prix since May, dominating the full-length race in In-donesia this weekend, giving him a 21-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo in the Riders' Championship. Speaking after his triumph, Martin admitted that the memories of previous crashes weighed on his mind midway through the race in Indonesia. “Yeah, I got revenge from Mandalika,” noted the Spaniard. “After last season’s crash, [Sunday] was a difficult race, and after [Saturday’s] crash [in the Sprint Race] also. After 13 laps, I had some ghosts on my mind in corner 11, and then every lap in corner 16. “I was trying to be really careful. We had a lot of wind from the side in that part. I was struggling to turn; it was like if I were riding a scooter. I know I was losing a lot in that part to [Pedro] Acosta [who finished second], but I was thinking, ‘Okay, if I lose here, I push in other parts’. “So, I think I was really careful understanding the situation at the start of the race and then trying to push a bit more every lap. Acosta was incredible; he was pushing. Even the laps that I was trying to make a gap, he was staying at under one second. So, for sure, he is strong, and I’m happy I per-formed really well.” Bagnaia, meanwhile, won the Sprint Race on the Indonesian weekend but was hampered by a poor start in the Grand Prix and has called on Ducati to fix the issues that have plagued him in recent races. “As soon as possible [the problem needs to be fixed], because in the last two seasons I was always perfect on the start in the last four Grand Prix since Aragon that I’m starting every time in a differ-ent way and every time bad,” Bagnaia explained. “[Sunday] was different than [Saturday]. [Saturday] was not too bad. This morning was good, but this afternoon I wheelied and I spun [the rear].” He added, “I tried to do the same start as yesterday, but the clutch had a different reaction, then I had a little wheelie, and the rear started to spin. I didn’t lose many positions, but after the start I was a bit too careful in the first laps.” Martin won last season’s Japanese Grand Prix, while Marc Marquez is the most successful rider on the grid in this event, having claimed MotoGP wins in 2016, 2018, and 2019.
