Sakunda Holdings has announced an impressive sponsorship deal worth US$1.5 million per season for Scottland Football Club, a newly promoted team in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The agreement spans the next five years and is considered the largest sponsorship package ever offered by a single organization to one club in the league’s history.
In addition to this groundbreaking sponsorship, Sakunda Holdings, which also backs Dynamos and Highlanders with US$1 million per season each, will supply Scottland FC with regular playing, training, and travel kits. The energy company has also pledged support for the construction of a proposed 15,000-seat stadium in Mabvuku for the club.
The company’s owner, Kuda Tagwirei, further revealed plans to sponsor visits for Scottland officials to three international stadiums of their choice. These visits will provide valuable insights to aid in the development of Scottland’s own facility. Additionally, the club’s coach and captain will each receive luxury vehicles, mirroring the benefits provided to Dynamos and Highlanders under similar arrangements.

Speaking at the sponsorship unveiling event on December 19, Tagwirei emphasized the importance of fostering both on-field success and strong community connections. He stated:
“We are committed to helping Scottland achieve success as they begin their Premier Soccer League journey. It’s vital for the club to value its fans and players while working toward a sustainable business model.
We are proud to support Scottland and are dedicated to ensuring they thrive, both in the league and in their broader ambitions. Our hope is to see them becoming champions sooner rather than later.”
Scottland Football Club president, Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya, expressed gratitude for the substantial support, noting the transformative impact it would have on the club. He said:
“This sponsorship is a game-changer. It will not only allow us to secure high-caliber players and coaches but also support our broader goals, such as building a stadium in Mabvuku and initiating youth programs.
We extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Tagwirei for his generosity, as this partnership will ease many operational challenges and pave the way for Scottland’s success on and off the field.”
The historic sponsorship deal represents a major boost for Scottland Football Club and underscores Sakunda Holdings’ continued commitment to advancing Zimbabwean football.
