A tragic incident occurred at Ebenezer Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Ramoya village, Homa Bay County, Kenya, where a 35-year-old church elder was fatally stabbed during a service.

The attack took place on Saturday in front of the congregation, allegedly due to a suspected love affair.

The victim, Francis Opiyo, had just finished presenting church reports before the main sermon when another elder, who was also part of the church leadership, suddenly attacked him.

According to Suba South Sub-County Police Commander Caxton Ndunda, the suspect approached the altar as Francis was handing over responsibilities to another elder.

He then drew a knife, reportedly concealed within a Bible, and stabbed Francis in the left side of his chest. The victim collapsed immediately.
