A Harare woman has fallen victim to fraudsters impersonating businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo, losing $100 in the scam.
The victim, identified as Patience, shared her ordeal with Showbiz, revealing how she was deceived by individuals who have been swindling unsuspecting victims by pretending to be the well-known entrepreneur.
Investigations by Showbiz uncovered a network of scammers operating under Chivayo’s name, luring victims through social media.
According to chats seen by the publications, the fraudster initially approached Precious via Facebook and later directed her to a WhatsApp number allegedly linked to Chivayo.

The scammer claimed that she needed to transfer $240 to facilitate the processing of a truck and a house. Unable to pay the full amount, Precious sent $100 instead.
However, immediately after the transaction, the fraudster’s number was switched off, cutting off all communication.
Authorities have urged the public to be cautious of online scams and verify information before making any financial transactions.
