The Minister of Information Communication Technology, Tatenda Mavetera, announced that Starlink’s introduction to Zimbabwe will enhance economic growth in underserved communities by providing access to high-speed internet.
The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) has licensed several companies, including state-owned TelOne and others, to resell Starlink services. Currently, Aura Group and TelOne are the only local firms authorized to distribute Starlink devices.
At the launch of Aura Group’s partnership with Starlink in Harare on September 25, Mavetera highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, “This partnership marks a crucial milestone in our telecommunications journey.
“The use of low-orbit satellite technology will create transformative opportunities for marginalized communities, fostering economic development in areas previously limited by poor connectivity.”
Mavetera emphasized the government’s commitment to improving connectivity, particularly in rural areas, where access has been minimal.
Aura Group CEO Samuelle Dimairho noted that the partnership aims to empower these communities by enhancing healthcare, food security, and information access, all made possible through affordable high-speed internet.
He added, “With mobile applications, we can monitor agricultural practices and manage resources effectively.”

Starlink which is developed by SpaceX, provides high-speed internet even in remote regions lacking traditional infrastructure.
In other news, In a significant effort to address the digital divide in Zimbabwe, Aura Group has officially launched its reseller partnership with Starlink.
The event, held at the Sabre Business premises in Harare, featured the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Dr. Tatenda A. Mavetera, alongside the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere.
This partnership allows Aura to provide Starlink’s satellite internet connectivity, ensuring customers have access to reliable and affordable internet. The initiative aims to enhance internet availability across various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and business, particularly in underserved regions.
