SUPERSPORT AND ZTN PRIME PARTNER TO UNLOCK THE POTENTIAL OF SPORT IN ZIMBABWE
In an effort to unlock the potential of football leagues and pave the way for sustainable growth, a ground-breaking capacity workshop was held in Harare recently by SuperSport in partnership with ZTN Prime, bringing together industry leaders, stakeholders, and experts from around the country.
The workshop, which was officiated by the Minister of Sport, Hon Kirsty Coventry, aimed to delve into creative methods and cutting-edge techniques to generate revenue for football leagues in Zimbabwe.
Commenting during the workshop, Thando Bakumeni, SuperSport’s Acting Senior Manager Africa (commercial), emphasized on the need for the adoption of techniques that help to raise football in Zimbabwe and contributes positively to the growth of the sport.
“With the rapidly evolving landscape of sports and entertainment, it has become crucial to identify innovative strategies that can propel football leagues to new height and support the clubs to generate sponsorships and ticket sales, all the while supporting careers in the sports field and creating more funding for sports development”
During the said event, the Minister of Sport commended SuperSport and ZTN Prime for the initiative to bring together stakeholders to tackle the challenges in Zimbabwe.
“We should take it with positivity that we are going to take each other accountable. This is our chance to create the legacy.
“What we have to do is make sure we engage in good corporate governance and break things down which is what we have been doing over the past two years. Until we can hold each other accountable, we are going to kill ours youngsters, ”she said.
ZTN Prime General Manager, Nomsa Nkala said “The partnership between ZTN and SuperSport is remarkable. It goes beyond expanding football viewership and aims to enhance the very essence of sport.
“Therefore, we are excited about the capacity-building workshop which all Premier Soccer League club leaders attended. We are most grateful to Stan Matthews for the great insights which will, no doubt, improve Zimbabwe’s football in all its facets.
“ZTN also cherishes its partnership with the PSL and the commitment that Chairman Farai Jere and CEO Kenny Ndebele have shown towards modernising the game. Above all, the workshop was for the football fan; the viewer who wants to watch top quality sport.”
