Private investigator Tafadzwa Chidawa, also known as “Detective Kedha,” stands accused of orchestrating the abduction of a woman who was later abandoned at the Harare Central Police Station.
Following a request from her boyfriend, an inquiry into the woman’s disappearance resulted in Chidawa’s arrest.
According to court documents, on March 5, Tafadzwa Chidawa, along with five accomplices including Sallom Gandiya, the victim, purportedly posed as her boyfriend’s cousin in a deceitful scheme.

Chidawa arranged a meeting with Gandiya at the Caledon Shops on Seke Road under false pretenses.
Gandiya, having hired a cab from Watson Gatsi, arrived at the agreed location only to be confronted by Chidawa and his associates posing as police detectives from the Harare Central Police Station.
Chidawa and his accomplice allegedly accused Gandiya of handcuffing her, forcing her into a car, and lying to her spouse about a fake pregnancy.
They then drove Gandiya and Gatsi to Mutare Road, where Gandiya was able to use a distress call to inform a friend about the kidnapping.
After then, the gang left Gandiya and Gatsi at the Central Police Station in Harare, where they informed the authorities about the event.
Following Gandiya and Gatsi’s police report, Chidawa was captured. The prosecution, Rufaro Chonzi, argued against granting bail, pointing to Chidawa’s prior attempt to avoid arrest.
The next planned date for the case’s proceedings is today. It is anticipated that Magistrate Dennis Mangosi will rule on the bail request.
