Tyla Makes History: “Water” Holds Billboard’s No. 1 Afrobeats Spot for 52 Weeks

South African musician Tyla continues to achieve remarkable success, breaking records with her hit song, “Water.”

As per Billboard’s Chart Beat, “Water” has made history as the first solo track ever to hold the number one spot on the US Afrobeats Songs chart for 52 consecutive weeks.

Released on July 28, 2023, the track also made waves on the TikTok Billboard Top 50, reaching number 11. It debuted at number 37 on the US Afrobeats chart in September 2023, before climbing to number 67 on the US Billboard Hot 100 by October 2023.

Tyla’s fans, affectionately known as “tygers,” expressed their excitement on social media, with one fan commenting, “52 weeks at number one, that’s incredible!” Another fan remarked, “The Tyla Water Dance challenge will go down in history as one of TikTok’s favorites.”

In total, “Water” has spent 65 weeks on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart.

Tyla is currently dominating the Top 10 with several other hits, including “Truth or Dare” at No. 3, “Art” at No. 4, and “No 1” featuring Tems at No. 5.
