Double-Booking at Jabhuna Threatens Winky D’s New Year’s Eve Show

The much-anticipated Crossover Show by Zimbabwean reggae-dancehall icon Winky D, set to take place on December 31 at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), faces uncertainty after the venue’s operators scheduled a different event for the same night.

In a statement issued on Friday, Winky D’s legal team, Tsunga Law International, revealed that the venue had been booked as far back as May 2024, with all arrangements meticulously planned to host the performance.

The legal representatives also noted that discussions are ongoing in an effort to resolve the scheduling conflict and proceed with the show as planned. Part of their statement reads:

Our client wishes to address the current situation concerning the Winky D Crossover Show scheduled for December 31, 2024.

Winky D is fully committed to delivering a spectacular performance at the HICC, a venue cherished by his loyal fans. The artist’s management team secured the location in May 2024, and every necessary step was taken to ensure the success of the event.

Winky D holds his fans in the highest regard and has poured immense effort into preparations, underscoring his dedication to providing a memorable experience.

Unfortunately, the venue operators have since allocated the same date to another event, disregarding the prior agreement made with Winky D’s team.

This unexpected turn of events presents a significant challenge, as the artist remains determined to fulfill the expectations of his fans.

Although we cannot share additional details at this time, discussions are actively underway to resolve the matter.

It is deeply regrettable that these unforeseen circumstances jeopardize an event so eagerly anticipated by Winky D and his supporters.
