Ekurhuleni Hotel ignites 2017
Ekurhuleni Boksburg Hotel is set to ignite its entertainment year this month after a festive season break that saw Zexie Manatsa and Oliver Mtukudzi pulling down the curtain in December.
Proprietors say the break was meant to afford revelers time off, with most Zimbabweans based across the Limpopo trekking northwards to visit their homes.
The ignition task has however been entrusted to Tocky Vibes who goes head to head with ExQ, currently high flying with his collaboration with Ammara Brown titled Bhachura.
Organisers say fans are in for a mixed grill treat as the show will see seasoned and revered performers of two genres taking to the stage.
ExQ is currently on a purple patch after Bhachura was voted number three on the Coca Cola Ztv Show and has remained outstanding in the rather subdued urban grooves genre managing to keep his head high with competitive singles and videos.
On the other hand Tocky who had seemed to have gone cold after a lukewarm reception of his last studio attempt Toti Toti has promised Mzansi based Zim dancehall fans a night not to miss as he unleashes some of his new material in Boksburg.
Speaking through his manager Elvis Bokosha, the Mhai hit maker said he was thrilled to be performing at the Hotel for the first time and would guarantee patrons a top drawer performance.
“I urge every Zimbabweans to come and witness our polished act as we have prepared well for the show. It’s our debut show in that part of Jozi so we are excited to have been included on the list of performers especially considering this is the hotel’s first show this year,” said Bokosha.
He said the invitation was a morale booster for Tocky as it showed his work was being recognised beyond Zimbabwe and growth of his fan base.
“We will sample six new singles which have just been released. Fans must come in their numbers and be the first to have a taste of what we have been cooking,” he said.
Ekurhuleni Hotel manager, Donny NIkisi said the show was a special event as it marked the beginning of greater shows to come during the year at the giant hotel.
“We have invited big guns from Zim dancehall and urban grooves to set the ball rolling on our planned entertainment calendar. In other words this is just a teaser of much more spectacular shows lined up this year,” said Nikisi.
That this would be Tocky’s debut show and their first after three months, he said, should ensure revelers will have a memorable night.
The duo will be supported by veteran chanter Dhadza D.
