Honde Valley-born Monalisa Tombo transforms Masvingo’s Dreamwoods Lodge

Born and raised in Honde Valley, Monalisa Tombo is being credited for transforming Masvingo’s Dreamwoods Lodge into a force to reckon with in the tourism sector.

Dreamwoods Lodge is adjacent to Great Zimbabwe monuments that are ranked fourth globally in terms of ancient civilization sites after the Great Wall of China in the first position, the Egyptian pyramids second, and the Machupicchu of Peru in the third position. This gives the lodge a strategic position in terms of attracting tourists.

Tombo’s exemplary leadership is in line with the government’s call for increased participation of women in the sector that is also in sync with the Women Empowerment Initiative for Africa that was tabled at the UNWTO Commission for Africa Meeting, which was held in Abuja, Nigeria in June 2018.
Statistics indicate that globally, tourism is a sector with the highest share of women employment with 49% of the workforce in hotels and restaurants.
However, most women assume lower ranks in the tourism sector, according to UNWTO. Thus, having women like Tombo in higher positions in the sector is encouraging.
As a hotel and tourism expert, Tombo has turned Dreamwoods Lodge which offers accommodation and safari services into Masvingo Province’s pride and joy.

The former Sahumani  High student is known for her exuberant, unique design and top-of-the-line service. Dreamwoods Lodges now stands as one of the best accommodation facilities in the southern region competing with private camps like the Pamushana Lodge and other camps in Gonarezhou National Park.
Located less than 3km from the city centre, Dreamwoods Lodges is strategically located close to Great Zimbabwe, and Lake Mutirikwi.
The opulent, eclectic, vividly coloured, and perfectly located wildlife viewing site, Dreamwoods, opened on the 1st of February 2022.

The lodge offers leisure like swimming and safari
