Deputy Minister of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion David Mnangagwa is grieving the unexpected passing of his driver, Ishmael Maburisa, who was found deceased in his hotel room on Sunday, October 27, after the ZANU PF annual conference in Bulawayo.
As reported by ZimLive, authorities were summoned to the Greys Inn Hotel early that morning and discovered Maburisa had already passed away.
Sources from the hotel suggested he may have succumbed to diabetic shock.
Prior to his death, Maburisa was seen at the reception, urgently requesting food. It is suspected he was experiencing hypoglycemia, a condition characterized by low blood sugar levels, which could have been remedied by carbohydrate intake.
One source recounted that he was given porridge, the only available food, but after returning to his room, he began twitching and convulsing, resembling an epileptic episode, before tragically passing away.

Upon investigation, police found diabetes medication in Maburisa’s room. An internal police memo, reviewed by ZimLive, confirmed that he was indeed Mnangagwa’s driver.
It remains uncertain whether Mnangagwa was still in Bulawayo at the time of the incident or if he had returned to Harare after the conference concluded on Saturday. The police have not provided further comments on the situation.
