Three Apprehended For Child Por*ography in a successful collaborative effort between the South African Police Service’s Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) unit and the United States Department of Homeland Security, three individuals engaged in online sexual exploitation of children have been arrested.
Child por*ography is a global issue, often involving the illegal distribution of explicit content featuring minors who are coerced or deceived into participating.
Many countries, Zimbabwe included, have implemented laws to combat this alarming phenomenon. SECI released a statement detailing the arrests, indicating that a 53-year-old man from Worcester was apprehended on January 17, 2024, for distributing and possessing a significant collection of 95,000 images and 6,000 videos of child pornography.
He faces charges related to accessing, distributing, and possessing child por*ography.
The statement further revealed that one of the arrested individuals masqueraded as a teenager to attract underage girls into a chat group where child por*ography was exchanged.
The joint operation by SECI and the US Department of Homeland Security aimed to tackle child online s*xual predators actively involved in such illicit activities.
