Zimbabwe’s Head Coach, Michael Nees, has officially announced the Warriors squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
The much-anticipated selection includes a mix of experienced internationals and emerging talents, with the team aiming to make a strong impact in their qualification campaign.
Goalkeepers: The goalkeeper trio is led by experienced Washington Arubi, who plays for Marumo Gallants in South Africa. Joining him are Marley Tavaziva from Brentford and Martin Mapisa from MWOS FC. Their selection provides solid depth and competition for the starting spot.
Defenders: The Warriors’ defense features several familiar names, with Jordan Zemura of Udinese headlining the defensive line. Alongside him are Divine Lunga from Sundowns, Gerald Takwara from Al Minaa SC, and Munashe Garananga of FC Copenhagen. Additional defensive options include Isheanesu Mauchi of Simba Bhora, Peter Muduhwa and Godknows Murwira, both from Scotland, and Emmanuel Jalai from Dynamos.
Midfielders: Zimbabwe’s midfield looks promising, with Marshail Munetsi of Stade de Reims providing a dynamic presence. Andy Rinomhota from Cardiff City, Marvelous Nakamba of Luton Town, and Mthokozisi Msebe, Khama Billiat, and Knowledge Musona— all from Scotland—are all crucial assets to the midfield lineup. Tawanda Chirewa, playing for Huddersfield Town, adds further strength to the midfield as well.
Forwards: In the attacking department, Coach Nees has selected a potent combination of experienced players and fresh talent. Prince Dube from Young Africans, Tawanda Maswanhise of Motherwell, and Supersport United’s Terrence Dzvukamanja are among the forwards expected to provide the attacking threat. Tymon Machope, also from Scotland, and Walter Musona complete the forward lineup, giving Zimbabwe a versatile attack.
