Cindy Munyavi Revives Urban Grooves with Nostalgic New Single “Kadeya Deya

Zimbabwean music icon Cindy Munyavi has done it again with the release of her highly anticipated single, “Kadeya Deya,”

Cindy has once more captured the hearts of her fans, delivering a track that resonates with nostalgia and the vibrant energy of contemporary urban music.

Cindy, who has long been recognized as a trailblazer in Zimbabwean urban music, takes her listeners on a journey back to the early days of the genre. “Kadeya Deya” is not just another song,  it is a celebration of Zimbabwe’s rich musical history, a tribute to the sounds that have shaped the nation’s urban music landscape.

The release of “Kadeya Deya” comes at a time when the Zimbabwean urban music scene is experiencing a resurgence, and Cindy is at the forefront of this revival. As a multi-award-winning artist, she has been instrumental in propelling urban music into the mainstream since the turn of the century. Her influence extends beyond music, touching fashion and culture, and inspiring a new generation of artists.

“Kadeya Deya takes the listener through generations of Zimbabwean urban contemporary music,” Cindy explains. “It is a heartfelt tribute to the genre’s roots, seamlessly blending modern sounds with the timeless essence of urban grooves.”

The single is more than just a musical journey, it is a celebration of love and connection. Cindy captures the essence of cherishing special moments with loved ones, inviting listeners to embrace their feelings and create lasting memories. The song’s romantic vibe makes it a perfect addition to any wedding playlist.

One of the standout features of “Kadeya Deya” is its homage to the pioneers of Zimbabwean urban contemporary music. The track features a sample from Fortune Muparutsa’s iconic jam “Wangu Ndega,” a nod to one of the founding fathers of the genre. This tribute not only honors Muparutsa’s legacy but also reinforces Cindy’s commitment to preserving and celebrating Zimbabwe’s rich musical heritage.

“It is an unapologetically urban grooves song with a nostalgic theme and feel,” says Cindy. “It is the kind of song that prompts you to explore your feelings for your person, makes you want to fall in love, one that you would want on your wedding playlist.”

To accompany the release, Cindy has also unveiled a visually stunning music video for “Kadeya Deya.” Shot in various picturesque locations across the United States, the video complements the song’s nostalgic yet modern feel, adding another layer to the listener’s experience.
