Scottland Players Eye US$10,000 Bonus as Championship Title Beckons

Scott Sakupwanya

Scottland players can earn US$10,000 each if they win the ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League championship. With four matches left in the season, club president Scott Sakupwanya has set up incentives for the upcoming games.

In their next match against DZ Royal Stars at Rufaro, players will receive US$1,500 for a win and US$200 for each goal scored. Sakupwanya explained that these rewards aim to help the team secure the title on their first attempt.

He reiterated his commitment to the US$10,000 bonus for promotion to the Premier Soccer League. For Wednesday’s match, players could earn up to US$2,500 if they win 5-0, factoring in goal bonuses.

Sakupwanya mentioned that the incentives will be adjusted for future matches, starting with their home game against Harare City. Recently, he rewarded players US$1,500 for their last three wins, including US$1,000 for a 7-0 victory over Norton Community.

Scottland’s remaining matches are all in Harare, where they will play DZ Royals, Harare City, and host Herentals Under-20 and Black Mambas. Meanwhile, current leaders MWOS will face Black Mambas and finish the season with three home games.

Coach Genesis Mangombe noted that these incentives challenge the team to perform well. Team captain Lincoln Zvasiya promised they will give their best effort to secure the promotion ticket.
