The world’s fastest sport battle of the giants to kick start at the British Grand Prix 12th round of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship, on Sunday, July 7, in the afternoon at the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire.
The race will be centered around the developing rivalry between Max Vestappen and Lando Norris as the reigning champions.
George Russell of Mercedes won the previous round in Austria, but all the drama came from a collision on lap 64 between Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and Norris of McLaren, who were fighting for the lead in the race, and both of them were injured. The Englishman was forced to retire his car, but the Dutchman managed to finish in fifth place.

Verstappen was forced to defend his driving style after being penalized 10 seconds for his involvement in the contact with the McLaren driver, but this resulted in him extending his lead over Norris at the top of the Drivers’ Championship to 81 points.
“I must consider how or why we made contact in the past. We will discuss it, of course. The fact that it occurred is regrettable,” Verstappen remarked.
The Red Bull driver went on, “It’s difficult to see when I brake from the outside.” I am aware that it has historically been somewhat of a grievance. Before braking, I always move my wheel. Next, you apply a straight-line brake. It’s always easy to claim that I’m moving while braking from the outside. I believe the person driving the car is the most experienced. People are all free to express themselves, but I’m the one behind the wheel. The best control is mine. Judging and commenting is simple. Still, whatever”
Conversely, Norris was unreserved in his criticism of his opponent, saying, “I know what to expect. I anticipate aggressive behavior, pushing boundaries, and such, but on all three occasions, he has engaged in actions that have the potential to escalate into a confrontation, which is a little careless.
“It didn’t have to seem that way; he has a lot of victories under his belt. However, it did seem like he was a little too eager to stop me from passing. I’m not shocked because I know he will be combative. I simply wanted a competitive, equitable, courteous, but cautious portion of racing, and I don’t think I got it.”
As the F1 circus moves to Silverstone, Russell and Mercedes, who were well-positioned to capitalize on the Verstappen-Norris fallout, will be hoping to keep improving.
While Carlos Sainz Jr. and Max Verstappen have won the last two British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has amassed a record eight F1 race victories at the legendary circuit.
