The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) says it is targeting 250 exhibitors and already 150 have registered for this year’s edition of Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo.
This was said by ZTA Chief Executive Ms Winnie Muchanyuka while addressing a press conference on Monday in Bulawayo.
“Registration for stand bookings still open. As of today (Tuesday), over 150 exhibitors have registered to participate at Sanganai/Hlanganani including participation from the following countries; Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and Malawi.
“We are optimistic that we will reach our target of 250 exhibitors. We call upon industry players in Bulawayo to come in numbers,” Ms Muchanyuka said.
The world tourism expo is scheduled to be held in the City of Kings, Bulawayo at Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre, Bulawayo, from 13 – 15 October 2022.
According to the ZTA boss,the parastatal has since closed registration of hosted international buyers and media as it has been oversubscribed.
“We have had to close registration of hosted international buyers and media which has been oversubscribed. We are expecting from Germany, United Kingdom, America, South Africa, Botswana, Australia, India among many others,’she added.
The tourism sector had been hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic but the Sanganai/Hlanganani – World Tourism Expo has reignited growth of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions (MICE) sector and positively impacting on domestic tourism.
