The sudden death of a well-known local businessman in what police think was a suicide on Saturday night shocked the people of Cowdray Park in Bulawayo.
In Luveve, John Tafara Madzikatire, who was married, had two children and owned the butcher shop Samaz. He was found dead in his black Mercedes-Benz parked next to his girlfriend’s house.
The police think Madzikatire killed himself by shooting himself in the head.
Around 9 PM, neighbours called the police because they saw the car parked strangely on the street.
When they got there, they found the businessman’s dead body inside the vehicle, along with a gun and a lot of cash in different currencies.
According to reports, more than US$4,000 and R19,000 were found at the spot.

Why Things Are Happening
A neighbour said they had heard a big noise earlier that night but didn’t think much of it.
The police are looking into what happened with the death and have confirmed that Madzikatire was in the area visiting a lover right before it happened.
Documents found in the car helped identify Madzikatire, who is from Mutare. His family has not said anything so far.

People in Cowdray Park are still shocked by what happened. Many people said that Madzikatire was a nice, hard-working person.
One neighbour, in shock, said, “This is very sad.” “I never thought something like this could happen because he was nice.”
Police are currently getting accounts from witnesses and are still looking into what might have caused Madzikatire’s untimely death.
People are talking about mental health, cheating, and the stresses of living two lives because of this sad event.
