Due to allegations that he had an affair with his friend’s mother, Zimdancehall star Nyasha Reginald Mano, better known by his stage as Ras Pompy, is currently embroiled in an attempted murder case whereby his friend stabbed his uncle on the shoulder with a knife.
Numerous people have seen the occurrence, which has brought attention to family conflicts. Wesley Eroyi Shoniwa, from Mbare, reportedly stabbed his uncle during a heated altercation concerning the alleged affair.
He is accused of attacking his uncle, who had confronted him for threatening and harassing his mother over her relationship with Ras Pompy, his friend.
Appearing before magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, Shoniwa faces attempted murder charges.
During the court proceedings, Shoniwa expressed his frustration over his mother’s relationship with his friend, claiming that it had subjected him to ridicule from neighbors.
“We are here because my mother is sleeping with Ras Pompy. How can she sleep with someone of my age when she can easily find someone her age?” Shoniwa told the court. He admitted that the ongoing affair had caused him great embarrassment, leading to the altercation with his uncle, who he said had taken his mother’s side in the matter.
According to the State’s case, the incident occurred on Monday when Shoniwa, enraged by his uncle’s intervention, stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife. The uncle had been trying to calm Shoniwa, urging him to stop harassing his mother.
The court announced that Shoniwa is being remanded in custody until his next court appearance for bail considerations. The case has sparked debate in the Mbare community, as Ras Pompy remains silent on the affair allegations.
According to the people who stay at the same place as Shoniwa, they are confirming that they have seen Ras Pompy with his friend’s mother several times at her place in the absence of her son.
“This was long overdue, we saw this coming, Wesley truly has suffered shame and embarrassment due to this affair, ” said a neighbor who only identified himself as Man Bugga.
